In December 2015, the French artist duo Ella & Pitrlaunched the book Baiser d’Encre (in translation, Ink Kisses), an exclusive and intimate collection of moments shared together, presented in the form of sketches highlighting some of the characters we have seen in their large-scale ground and rooftop murals, a reflection of people they’ve met, personal experiences, and memories of places they’ve visited.
In the book, as in many of their works, the artists manage to add a childlike innocence and positive, sometimes humorous, tone to the depicted situations and characters, while at the same time unveiling everyday struggles, absurd human actions and a series of emotions, states and connections that speak of the duo’s concerns with today’s challenges, joys and constraints.
