At the beginning of May 2000, artist Thom Thom, alias Thomas Schmitt, began cutting out the advertising posters at the intersection of Rue Oberkampf and Rue Saint Maur. He systematically hijacked the billboards on this “Place sans nom”, practically every day. In early spring 2001, Jean Faucheur and Thom Thom met. In March 2001, Thom invited Jean Faucheur to come and paste Gran' Popa Scalp, a painting on paper dating from 1986, which he hadn't pasted when he was posting his work on Parisian billboards. This kind of interaction became widespread with people like L'Atlas, Vast, Hélène “Surfil” Laxenaire... A small community of situationists was formed, mainly graffiti artists, but also a few photographers...
