Arte di Frontiera: New York Graffiti was one of the first major exhibitions devoted in Europe to New York style writing and the first generation of street art. The exhibition traveled to Italy and was held in Bologna, Milan, and Rome throughout 1984.

The exhibition pays tribute to the art critic Francesca Alinovi, who lived in New York around 1980 and published many articles in several European magazines describing the artistic revolution she discovered in the streets and art galleries. Francesca Alinovi was killed while working on the exhibition, the curatorship of which was entrusted to some of her friends and colleagues.

The catalogue published for the occasion is a must-have for all graffiti and street art collectors. Three different editions of this book were published for each stage of the exhibition, but the only notable difference between the books is the cover page with the location and date of the exhibition.
