His journey home to Vienna by water is an adventure, and the descriptions of the people he meets are interesting and touching.

For the first time since its first publication in 1829, the book, which has long been out of print, is now being published unabridged.

Although his narrative is one of the most original works of travel literature of the Austrian Biedermeier period, the reason for Kyselak's fame was another: on his travels he used to leave his name in large letters of black oil paint - some of these signatures still exist today.
