The HWS-CREW is part of the second generation of the Stuttgart graffiti scene and has significantly shaped the city with their art. They aimed to continuously raise the bar, both in quality and quantity. After more than 30 years, the moment has come to look back and document the group's work from 1987 to the present in a book. Spanning 368 pages and 648 photos, the book showcases the full range of their graffiti with trains, bombings, line productions, and legal murals. It also highlights their close connections to Basel and Bern, as well as impactful journeys taken by the crew.
With the support of writer Projekt_55, extensive text contributions, an interview, and numerous anecdotes were created. Readers are transported back to a time when all of Germany gathered in front of the TV at 8:15 p.m. on Saturdays to watch Wetten, dass..., with no cell phones or internet, and when people had to travel from Stuttgart to Munich, Dortmund, or Basel to see graffiti. Over the years, the youths became adults, and as the crew members’ hair gradually grayed, the once gray walls of the city became colorful. Subsequent generations of Stuttgart writers had to contend with the fact that free spaces would become increasingly rare for them to find.
