Walter Josef ‘OZ’ Fischer did start painting in the streets of Hamburg in the early 1990s. Although he did not have a background in the graffiti writing scene, he mostly used spray cans to make his famous marks all around town. Best known for his smileys, his ‘OZ’ tag and undefinable multicolored and outlined works, he kept painting Hamburg’s surfaces until his tragic death on 25th September 2014.
‘WERKAUSZUG’ (excerpt of works) sums up the variety of his oeuvre and shows also a broad selection of lesser known signs, drawings and letter combinations in the streets. Once you realize that these presented traces were done by him as well, his full body of works multiplies to an even more incredible dimension.
