In arguably the greatest contributor from the world of art to the world of politics, Shephard Fairey aka OBEY THE GIANT) and his iconic designs catapulted Obama into the public consciousness in 2008. But public interest in his arresting images did not end there.

In the first week of December 2014, over 3,000 visitors came to see 60 of Fairey’s most iconic works on display in ‘Shephard Fairey #OBEY’ at the PAN gallery (Palazzo delle Arti in Naples). Now, this eponymous book immerses the reader in the intricately simplified popular images constitutive of the #OBEY exhibition. Beginning with his ‘ANDRE THE GIANT HAS A POSSE’ sticker campaign, which inaugurated his signature fusion of street art techniques, propaganda and graphic design, the book showcases his spray-paint collages, murals and politically-inspired stencil work.

The book documents the stylistic evolution of the architect of collective imagination in this comprehensive overview of his most distinctive iconography. Among the works is an exclusive large-scale canvas of ‘Obama Manifest Hope’, several iterations of Fairey’s signature design of ‘Andre the Giant’, and many other renowned pieces of from private collections, including the Drago’s. All of these fascinating works are accompanied by insightful commentary from the curator of the exhibition, Massimo Sgroi along with introductions by Luigi de Magistris, Gaetano Daniele, Mrs. Barrose and Luca Giglio.
