Street Art between shadow and light

Summer is here! Full of promise, innovative projects, and fresh ideas… A perfect opportunity for us to hit the road to visit the strongholds of Street Art and discover the trends that create its wealth.

Chasing sunlight and hot spots, we will bear witness to the birth of a vibrant Street Art scene in Athens, the cradle of democracy, where the antique past meets contemporary militantism to build a brand-new world. We will then cross the Mediterranean Sea to berth in Djerbahood, the island of dreams, where Street Art has transformed the village of Erriadh, a site of millennial heritage, into an open-air museum and a major destination for Street Art aficionados.

After this sunbath, the Transition – Les Portes project will bring us a breath of fresh air with its 140 doors rescued from a now-demolished social housing building and exhibited in the rooms and alcoves of the Abbey of Saint-Riquier to the benefit of Secours Populaire. And to bring you some colour, we will also look back at the second edition of the Colors Festival, held in an abandoned building in the heart of Paris.
In the world of Urban Art, not everyone wants to be recognisable or even famous. We will explore the various facets of anonymity in the street, and the superpowers it can sometimes wield: increased notoriety, ubiquity, legal protection…

This issue is full of artists with unique signatures, from Bom.K and his angelic darkness to pioneering and virtuoso MODE 2 via ELLE with her poetical paintings bursting with colour: a hotchpotch that is right up our street!

INO and his monochromatic historical portraits enhanced with splashes of blue paint and Ludovilk Myers’s joyful abstraction will complete this diverse panorama of Street Art.

We wish you all a great summer! And we invite you to come by and meet us at District 13 (Paris) from 15 to 18 September 2022.
