A monography dedicated to the Brussels-based duo Hell’O showing a retrospective of their artistic productions, exhibitions and books as well as their large scale interventions in the public space (« murals »). More than 225 visuals tell the journey of these young artists, of whom the strange and familiar universe and always recognizable and renewed style conquered Europe and the United States.
Antoine Detaille (1980) & Jerôme Meynen (1982) are Hell’O. They created a unique style since their debuts. After the exclusive use of black and white, color became progressively essential in their universe. The Hell’O imagined an enigmatic vocabulary that they reuse boundlessly. Fantasy creatures, human or beast, inhabit their paintings and become alive, sparking off consideration and awe. Their work is sometimes allegoric, sometimes esoteric and always created with delicacy, precision and a distance with a hint of humor. One can discover many of the duo’s murals, either curated by public institutions or individuals, in Belgium, Europe (Spain, Italy, France, Poland…) and in the US.
